Cape town - travel highlights

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Here you'll find the most popular places in our country. However, we will gladly assist you with any other questions you might have and prepare a program with exclusive destinations in South Africa

The fashionable and extremely popular beach area of Camps Bay not only boasts a white sandy beach, but also many cafes and restaurants, where one can sip cocktails whilst the sun sets. It is bordered by lawns, and on warm, sunny days it is absolutely full of sun worshippers, families, volley ball competitions and cold drink vendors.

Table Mountain can be seen from 150 km out to sea and it's flat top makes it a unique background for Cape Town. More than 800,000 people per year ascend by cable car. The view puts the whole of the Cape into perspective, with peaks rising and falling all the way down to Cape Point.

The beautifully restored Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is one of Cape Town's main tourist attractions. The Victorian Waterfront has many restaurants and bars, and not only offer unbeatable views and fine dining, but also wonderful places to sit and listen to the buskers entertaining the crowd. You can listen to traditional African harmonies, live music in cafes, watch the street entertainers and musicians playing to the crowds, or to simply enjoy the warm summer evenings and soak up the atmosphere.

The more than 300 year old wine growing area of Constantia is one of the the oldest and prettiest in South Africa. Situated on gentle mountain slopes at the back of Table Mountain down towards the Cape Peninsula, the vineyards of Constantia are picture perfect and well worth a visit.

Robben Island

A boat ride across from the V & A Waterfront, lies the famous Robben Island, a place of exile, banishment, isolation and imprisonment. From 1960, the island became known worldwide as the gaol for political prisoners who opposed the apartheid regime in South Africa, many of whom are today prominent members of the present African National Congress government.

Known as City of Oaks, Stellenbosch is a delightfully charming college town lined with gorgeous oak trees and teeming with activity. To expand your knowledge of fine wines you can enjoy the Stellenbosch Valley, one of three wine valleys in South Africa that make up the Cape Winelands. With over 100 beautiful vineyards, Stellenbosch is bound to leave travellers with a pleasant taste in their mouths.
